Who we are
AutoMotersIndia (“we”, “us”) runs automotorsindia.com, a platform that helps people in India research bikes, scooters and accessories, compare prices and specifications, and ask dealers and finance partners for quotes. For the personal data described here, we decide why and how it is processed, which makes us the “Data Fiduciary” under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”).
What we collect and why
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Mobile number | To sign you in with a one-time password and to reach you about your request. |
| Name, city or state, PIN code | To show prices for your state, to match you with dealers who serve your area and to address you correctly. |
| Vehicle interest, saved models, comparisons | To personalise your account and to tell dealers what you asked about. |
| Reviews, ratings and photos you post | To publish them after moderation. You choose what to share. |
| Messages you send us | To answer your question, correction or complaint. |
| Your device location, only if you tap “Use my location” | To work out your state once. We do not store the coordinates. |
| Technical data such as IP address, browser, pages visited and errors | To keep the site secure, to prevent misuse and to fix problems. |
| For dealers and finance partners: business details, GST and PAN documents, bank and billing details | To verify and onboard you, to bill you and to meet tax and legal duties. |
We ask only for what the purpose needs. We do not ask for Aadhaar, bank or card details from buyers.
How we use your data
- To run your account and the features you ask for, such as saved models, comparisons and alerts.
- To pass your price request to the dealers you picked, and to let them respond.
- To keep prices, specifications and reviews accurate and the platform safe.
- To send service messages about your request by SMS, WhatsApp or email.
- To meet our legal obligations and to handle complaints.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it to profile you for advertising.
Who sees your data
Dealers and finance partners. They receive your name and phone number only after they accept your request, and only if you chose them. They may contact you about that request. They may not use your details for anything else, as our Dealer Partner Terms require.
Service providers. We use trusted companies that process data on our behalf and only on our instructions, for hosting, sending SMS, WhatsApp and email messages, taking payments from partners and keeping the site secure.
Authorities. We disclose data when the law requires it, for example to answer a lawful order.
Consent and how to withdraw it
We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you sign in or submit a request, and for certain legitimate uses the DPDP Act allows, such as meeting a legal duty. You can withdraw consent at any time from your privacy page. Withdrawing does not affect what we did before, and it may mean we can no longer provide a feature that needs the data.
Your rights
- Access: ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and who we shared it with.
- Correction and erasure: ask us to correct, complete, update or erase your data.
- Grievance redressal: complain to us and get a reply as set out on our Grievance Redressal page.
- Nomination: nominate another person to exercise these rights if you die or cannot do so yourself.
You can use most of these rights yourself from your privacy page, or write to us using the details at the end of this policy.
How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only as long as the purpose needs it or the law requires. Verification documents of dealers, finance partners and verified owners are deleted once a decision is made, apart from what tax and accounting law requires us to keep. When you erase your account we delete or anonymise your data, except records we must keep by law.
Security
We protect data with access controls, encrypted connections and logging. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
Children
The platform is meant for adults. We do not knowingly process the personal data of anyone under 18 without the verifiable consent of a parent or guardian, and we do not track or target children.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar storage. See our Cookie Policy.
Where your data is processed
Your data is stored and processed on servers and with service providers that may be located in or outside India. Where it leaves India, we rely on providers who protect it to the standard this policy describes and the DPDP Act allows.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by message.
